Suggestions about our website

Postby ellen on Mon Feb 02, 2009 6:51 pm

I think it is absolutely wonderful what Tim has done to try to get Clarendon a great message board and a way to communicate with everyone.
However (and I will say that this is strictly a personal opinion!)...I personally do not like a website with too much "stuff" going on. I don't like the changes that have been made to our message board. There's too much going on in the background, it's hard to find things. It takes a while to find everything - the message posts, the members, etc. If I want to post an item, I want to be able to post it quickly and be able to read other posts and move on. My brain is already over-excited. I have two computers at home - one is very new and fast, and this one I'm using now is as slow as molasses. The message board bogs this old computer down.
My suggestion for Tim is to please bring back a simpler, less graphic-heavy message board.
What does everyone else think?
Am I alone in this? :?:

I just logged into the site today...

Tim is no longer updating the site.

The forum software is free hence we sorta get what the city is paying for - the tools are limited to what the free service it offering or just plain ole email - I just figured this was just a step up from plain. I did change the template to something a bit more simple and it changes automatically at each login.

I have not received any information from the city office on any updates or changes so, I can only play it by ear. :) :)

I hope the site gets used some more... Tim will likely be moving out of the area up to northern AR.

They may wish to get someone who will be around here and I can help get them setup soon if they actually want to keep updates going...

Currently with one paper a week and a limited input on city goings on - the web would be great ,,, I just don't get involved that much anymore to keep from pulling out my hair.. he he he...

Hope this helps and I look forward to getting someone who will be living in the area and publishing web contents to help get the city up to date.

I'm not new to "Clarendon", or the website. This morning is the first time I've visited the message board. I do like the site, but it's a little difficult for me to navigate. Guessing I'll need a little practice on it, so I can get use to it, and learn my way around it.

Do hope there is activity on this site. I think I'm going to enjoy it.

Have a Blessed day!

While I certianly understand you trying to spice up the site with colorful backgrounds and all, I think the backgrounds are more distracting than they are worth. Just a simple solid color would be fine and would make the text, in many areas, much more readable.

Also, just as I know who you are, I'm sure you know who I am...but I have no interest in updating the site. Not that I have anything against City Hall or it's employees, whatsoever, it's just nothing anyone does for this town is ever appreciated so I'd much rather have nothing to do with it. With all due respect, of course.
